This submission proposes that the reuse of our city’s forgotten alleyways should primarily serve as city-block shortcuts that operate within the structure of a flexible pocket park. The layout flanks a central, multipurpose space with a vendor booth and raked seating connected through a linear path that generates a dynamic row of program blocks to sustain and generate pedestrian traffic. The multipurpose space relies on a prefabricated grid of interchangeable deck modules which substitute for planter boxes and screen dividers. Allowing for a malleable space with multiple configurations that can cater to community events as well as public use.
